The idea is hyperinflation eats debt. The largest creditor of US treasuries is the Social Security Trust, so if they engage is hyperinflation it will lead to the destruction of Social Security and all other sovereign debts which as history has shown will lead to an economic collapse similar to the last time the government paid off the national debt in the late 1800's.

Be Prepared :Tools, Skills, Land, Water
Thirty years ago I decided that my guiding mantra would be "Tools, Skills, Land, Water". Those are the things you need to focus on. I am as prepared as I'll ever be -- let's get on with it.

Handling Inflation
Regarding my take on inflation I see almost none, but I must qualify that statement. I have adopted a minimalist lifestyle. I have no debt, I do not spend money on anything much. We don't eat out much, and prepare every economical and healthy meals at home. My wife and I don't go to movies, we don't have cable TV, we spend our time reading or enjoying the outdoors when the weather permits. I wear blue jeans and olive drab Tee Shirts every day, so I don't spend much on clothing. Inflation has very little effect on me, when compared to a lot of others in the US. You can battle inflation on your own. How? Pull out of the system at every point you can and simplify your life. The only thing I really spend money on is PMs. We have another powerful weapon against the system that few people deploy. What is it? Removing your resources from the banks to the maximum extent possible. If you don't step into the boxing ring with them, they cannot kick your ass

Confidence
Love others as you love yourself" Do you remember this old phrase? Turns out a lot of people nowadays suffer from insecurity, fear and anxiety because they lack an important component that this phrase of wisdom has--"love yourself." If you don't love and respect your body and mind, others will not respect or love you either. It shows, and people confuse this simple fact as confidence. The truth is, when you love and respect yourself, you will not feel fear, insecure or anxious in the presence of others. So do yourself a favor and teach yourself to love yourself a bit more each day. A little push each day is all it takes to change a life.
Don't waste your time or energy on "politics" Its a game of psychopaths trying to control everything.

American lifestyle
Two incomes aren't required if people don't buy crap that they don't need. In the early 50's TV was invented, destination vacations, automobiles became status symbols, clothing became fashion instead of serviceable necessities. Gym memberships, magazine subscriptions, water delivered to your door, telephones, ever expanding hobbies and toys. All designed to attract you into trading money you don't have yet for items that are expendable. mom had to go to work to keep up with the neighbors. Bigger houses that you need just to feel good about yourself, etc
How do we prepare? (Yes, "get out of the dollar" maybe, but how much of what alternative and what are the general and specific consequences that we may face?). What do we do "after" (if there is an "after")?
Investment in Rental income
I still think real estate is king. But not now/yet. It depends where you live. I buy for rentals not for what it will be worth in the future. I sold all my stock in 07 and In 09 I bought 3 inexpensive basic houses in so so neighborhoods for cash. I put in new kitchens and bathrooms and paint. I charge less than the going rate for rent so tenants want to stay. Once they are in I won't raise the rent. No need to. I'm not greedy and I keep the maintenance up . In about 3.5 years I made the financial investments back. I'll get a few more in a couple of years as the dust clears, although I don't really need the income. The tenants don't know it but they get the house when I die. Most people are I gotta do it now now now. Be patient and stress free. If you want to play the market you need to watch it every day. Do the research on companies. Don't ask for other people's opinions because they have their own biases. You'll never make it if you don't educate yourself. Don't just follow other people's advise.
Life style degradation
I teach a real estate prelicensing course in NJ & explained to my students on Friday that my father carried 5 children, my mother who never worked a day in her life, a nice home & car (Paid off) with an AAA credit rating 40 years ago while 2 working partners cannot create a decent living today and asked them why they think that is the case. Not one said devaluation of our dollar's buying power! Most are too young to know the way things used to be & sadly have no idea how they're being set up as debt slaves. I told them to just make money ?? and sock away as much as possible into gold & silver as an insurance policy after getting rid of their debt.

MONEY WILL NOT BE WORTH ANYTHING
I think a most important point you bring to light is that THEIR MONEY WILL NOT BE WORTH ANYTHING. If one has had the foresight to obtain their "own money" (by being their own central bank) in the form of tangible assets like bullion or the new crypto-currency, it will always be worth something. One can trade property or bullion for things of value (food and fuel). Whereas, one can have a pocket full of 100 dollar bills that no one will accept because they no longer carry value. Paper money (fiat currency) is a promise of exchange value which can be traded in commerce. A tradable contract. The value can disappear if the promise of a certain amount of exchange value cannot be fulfilled. Yes, this WILL be on a "global scale" due to the way the central banks, no matter where they are, are all linked and if one goes down, they all have a chance to follow after. What is happening is not unlike when people pay one of their credit cards using the available balance from another credit card, until they have no more capital. Am I starting to catch on...??? Is this a good understanding...??? I am starting to wonder what I have around the house that I can use for barter. Seriously, I wonder, "What do I have, in my possession, to trade for food and fuel if it becomes necessary?" Will the powers that be try more jiggery-pokery to make world-wide debt go away? It won't because there must a be a day of reckoning for the debt to be satisfied but as you have said all along this debt will be paid for by the already poor. The poor are easily controlled. Just say I walked into a third world slum and bought a child to be my housekeeper. Think the parents would sell me one? Probably would if they were desperate enough. I imagine it happens more often than people think.
